Poor Lilly

Poor Lilly has not been feeling well for a couple days

she was throwing up yesterday and then had horrendous diarrhea all night.I washed all of her bedding and blankie, scrubbed carpets, and bathed her multiple times since last night.I'm exhausted, but Daisy has dance tonight and she kind of cannot afford to miss it because her huge performance is in a couple weeks so practice times are limited and now we are down for the count!
So hoping for a better night tonight for all of us!Nick went and got her some pedialyte and she is enjoying it so I suppose that is good,I hate giving her artificial sugary stuff like that but she needs to gain her energy back and be well hydrated.
We got about 8 inches of snow last night and it is supposed to snow again tonight so Im debating of whether or not I should go get groceries to stock up or not today.I really dont  want to drag poor Lilly out although the weather is beautiful right now so maybe I should anyhow lol not to mention I need to stock up on a few medical items such as tummy meds, motrin, tylenol, pedialyte, cough drops etc.It would be nicest to be prepared for sickness unlike last night....lol
I cut out 2 more sweater dresses for the girls last nightbetween scrubbing the floor and bathing Lilly lol I hope to sew them tonight while the girls are in bed, they have quickly become a favorite in our house! Not only for the girls but for me as well!I love to sew them they are so quick and easy and the girls always look so sweet in them with tights, and they are sooo versatile!

Saturday Morning Ramblings

It has been another busy, busy week.Trying to keep up with everything that is going on around me lol.
Daisy's big dance performance is coming up next month,so we are trying to keep up with class and practicing at home,She also started attending a children's Bible group once a week, she LOVES it!This week they learned a bible verse, played games, had a snack, colored pictures and planted an Iris for her to bring home and water through the winter. She was soooo excited!
Lilly has been doing a little better, things seem to be mellowing out for the moment, she has her BIG appointment with an Autism Specialist the beginning of November,so we are looking forward to that, with both excitement and fear.I know no diagnosis will change my daughter or how I feel about her, however knowing the different diagnosis (es) would be beneficial in terms of therapy and possibly future medications.
We pretty much skipped fall here and went right into winter, several weeks ago we got 4 inches of snow,it didnt last long before it melter but it was fun while it lasted lol
I have gotten back into the "I hate leaving my house" mode again so I have been getting alot accomplished.I have sewed 5 sweater dresses in the past week for the girls,so they are really excited about them and wear them constantly.I have alot of issues keeping clothes on Lilly especially but with these dresses BOTH girls stay dressed ALL day which is a HUGE accomplishment in my house!
My computer still will not let me post pictures from my camera which is a huge pain in hte tush,so I have been trying to upload all pictures from my phone but its a pain too lol so Im really sorry about no pictures today, maybe later!
Hope you all have a blessed weekend!

Something I whipped up

Had a very, very short notice birthday party today.I think maybe I had 4 hours or so and no gift.So I made this little darling baby hedgehog from out of my mind, the picture does her no justice but I was in such a rush by the time I got done I forgot to take pics except this one I forwarded to a friend on my phone :)

My Sewing Machine is Home!

Im sooooo thamnkful and excited to have my sewing machine home! There were a few broken parts that he cannot fix,but 2 of them I can order from a Bernina dealer online. However the inside clips of the shell casing are broken and cannot be fixed or replaced, they do not affect the use of the machine (actually none of the broken pieces do) so I feel very, very fortunate. It still cost me a whopping $135 to have them look at it,clean it,fix the tension and put it all back together.I was a little bummed about the price but very happy it works now and I can sew again.

Catastrophy!

My sewing machine got knocked off the desk a few days ago,I broke its fall and mostly caught it before it hit the floor. But somehow the side wall seams cracked open and it will only back stitch or forward stitch,no doing both. So,this morning we took it into the sewing machine repair center (im sooo blessed we have one here in our city!)I have been waiting all day for the estimate and praying its fixable and not too expensive. When I left it at the center I almost hugged it good bye,I was so sad!and yes,I realize how lame that sounds lol and I dont care.My sewing machine means alot to me and I have been in the middle of sewing the girls winter clothes....It was really frustrating as I have 3 beautiful dresses all cut out and ready to sew :(
On a brighter note,I got to looking at the fancy Janome embroidery machines,by the time we left I was practically drooling lol. Those of you who truly know me know that I never ever buy anything fancy for myself,so when Nick saw my reaction he offered to buy me one of my choice up to $5000 at the beginning of the year when we get our tax refund! So sweet of him to offer, and how badly I want it,but it would be ever so hard for me to spend that amount of money on a new toy for  myself!Nick justifies it by saying this past tax season he got a new 42 in LED flat screen tv and surround sound lol
So,I guess I will start researching alot of different machines and see if anything out there will really suit my needs and wants and actually be worth the cost.I am considering it because in the future I do want to start and ETSY shop and sell handmade  items and help bring an income into our home, but I do not want to purchase something of that price if I cannot justify the cost.
But for now I will be waiting for the arrival home of my dear friend  My Bernina that I have had for many years.I was very young when I saved and saved and saved my money to be able to purchase it.I think I was around 19 or 20 when I had finally saved enough money from working and made the 2 hour drive to Loveland Co and walked into Matthews Sewing Center and instantly fell in love with my little computerized Bernina. She has served me very well and I have never had a problem with her, unlike the little Bernina 700D serger I bought at the same time lol If anyone has this machine and would like to give me some tips so I can actually use it that would be fantastic! It has sat on the shelf brand new untouched for at least 10 years and I would love to use it :)

Still so Much to do

Still so much to do.Its so hard to believe Christmas is only 9 days away! YIKES!!!!I should be sewing rather than on here!
Lilly was asleep and Daisy had just gotten out of the shower so we got to playing around with the camera, here are a few of our shots.Remember,Daisy was sick and had been throwing up and running a fever of 103 so she doesn't look happy. :(

Ok,so I haven't only been playing around,my grandparents(the girls great grandparents) were visiting from out of state so we had to make the best of that! They are getting up there in years so don't make the trip thru the mountains too often anymore, but we were happy to see them :)
I made fudge and chocolate covered coffee spoons for them along with a handmade dish rag,a framed pic of the girls, trail mix, etc.I didn't get to take pics but it was a fun little bag indeed :)
I'm starting to feel like I'm getting behind as I still have so much to do!I'm lost for ideas for a few members of my family  and overwhelmed with ideas for others :)
So,I got Daisy's first pair of leg warmers made! They were so easy to make and look so cute!I started with the plain beige and plan to move on to a little prettier ones. These are so cool, how easy is that to throw in your purse to match with t-shirts instead of a jacket? or for cold legs? I love them!and, her little brown legs are so darn cute!

Felt Play Food

I have been busy as can be today! So far I have gotten quite abit accomplished, including a Spongebob "lovey" for Lilly, she saw the fabric at Walmart in the reduced basket marked down to $1.42 for the piece(precut) so I went ahead and got it for her and got it done fairly quickly. Please don't judge me too harshly that my children watch the evil Spongebob show, but hey as Nick always says"there's alot of worse stuff they could be watching!"

I have also been hand sewing a felt tea set for Summer for Christmas,I will probably make my girls some also to go with the new ($25 yard sale deal!) Toy kitchen my parents got the girls for Christmas. It even has light up burners!its so cool! The girls will be so thrilled to see it on Christmas morning! So far I have a really cute set of 6 felt sugar cookies, with pink frosting with pink glass bead sprinkles.I also made 2(so far) felt teabags to go with her cookies.I plan on putting little magnets on the back of the cookies and then buying a little cookie sheet at Dollar tree for them to go on,and then making a little bag to keep them safe when not in use.For some unknown reason my pic keeps turning sideways, but I'm sure you get the point :)

For Daisy I plan on making felt donuts lol with purple and pink frosting with sprinkles she is my donut fanatic so I'm sure she will love playing with them as much as she loves eating them!

I also started sewing on Lilly's baby doll kit,I got her diapers done and am working on a matching doll quilt and diaper bag.Of course they are pink with pandas, what else? :)

Well, enough for now,my sewing machine is telling me I still have alot to get done in the next two weeks :)Have a wonderful evening!

Daisy's New Dress

My sewing machine has been hard at work all day on various projects!I am so pleased to have the sleeves for the dance performance nearly complete, all seven sets are sewed and ironed just waiting to be fitted with elastic and completed. The three corsage pieces for another class are nearly ready to be assembled and then I am finally free to sew and create to my hearts content without worrying about time lines!
Daisy's winter wardrobe got a new addition today,in between my sleeves I managed to sew her a soft pink flannel butterfly jumper. She is really thrilled with the fact that I even added her a pocket, trimmed with white eyelet lace :)

I have also been busy sewing little snack bags for the girls. These can be made in any fabric, however once again I chose flannel. Not for any reason except I had panda bear fabric and both the girls dearly love pandas! They are simple, one layer flannel pouches that Velcro shut the entire length of the top. No,they aren't dog treats! lol they are the ever-in-demand Scooby snacks!Along with ghost marshmallows and fruit snacks!
